Marco Andretti

Rank: 8

Points: -209

Marco Andretti continues the 2010 season with what is now, Andretti Autosport. In 2009, the driver finished eighth, garnering 2 top-5's and 11 top 10's. The prior season, Andretti finished seventh in the 2008 IndyCar Series for Andretti Green Racing, with one pole at Milwaukee; six top-5 finishes, and eight top-10’s.

Third-generation racer Marco Andretti made a successful leap to the IndyCar Series in 2006 after three seasons competing in various junior formula series and the Indy Pro Series (Indy Lights).

He is the son of IndyCar Series team owner and Indianapolis 500 veteran Michael Andretti and grandson of auto racing legend Mario Andretti. Marco has been able to keep a level head. "To be honest, I've been dealing with it since I first stepped into a go-kart. It's been all eyes on me and at 9 years old that's a lot. It gets easier, I get better dealing with it as I get older but the pressure gets heavier and heavier. I do what I love to do and that's drive race cars."

A graduate of Notre Dame High School in Bethlehem Township, Pa., at 19 Andretti was the youngest driver to win an IndyCar event with his victory at Sonoma in 2006…until Graham Rahal’s victory last year in St. Pete. The young AGR driver also forayed into the ALMS series for a couple of races during 2008 as part of the AGR Acura LPG2 entry.

Marco also led  AGR Team USA in the A1GP Series (alongside 2009 IRL rookie, Robert Doornbos who represented The Netherlands) in the off-season last year, competing in China, Malaysia (where he scored a podium finish), New Zealand and South Africa.
