Ryan Briscoe will compete with Team Penske for the 2010 season.With the same team last year, Briscoe finished third in the points standings with 3 wins, finishing second eight times in the season. In 2008, he finished fifth in the 2008 IndyCar Series, also driving for Team Penske, compiling a record of 3 wins (two points events-Milwaukee and Mid-Ohio, and one non-points event-Surfers Paradise). The Aussie also scored 3 poles (Edmonton, Watkins Glen and Chicagoland), had five top-5’s and eleven top-10’s. He continues his relationship with Team Penske for 2009.
Briscoe has traveled from the go-kart tracks of Australia to some of the world's most famous racing circuits.He was one of the most successful go-kart racers in Australia when he moved to Italy at age 16 to become a factory kart driver, a move that would lead him to formula cars and eventually linking him with Toyota and its Formula 1 team.
Away from the track, Briscoe enjoys gadgets, enjoys going to the beach and other watersports. Like many other IndyCar Series racers, Briscoe is competitive triathlete and has competed in several triathlons, cycling road races and half-marathons.During the 2008 season, Briscoe also ran in the ALMS series for Team Penske’s Porsche entry; most notably at RoadAmerica, where he and teammate, Helio Castroneves claimed victory. Briscoe also competed in the 2009 GrandAm Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, scoring a sixth place overall finish in the #16 Team Penske entry with teammates Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas.
