Vitor Meira returns with AJ Foyt Racing for 2010. Last year Meira posted one top-ten finish before an accident involving Raphael Matos at the Indy 500 side-lined him for the season with back injuries. In the off-season, Meira competed in go-karting events.

Meira had a final points standing finish of seventh for the 2008 IndyCar season, competing for Panther Racing. He recorded seven top five and eleven top ten finishes for the team. This year he moves to AJ Foyt Racing. The off-season found Meira competing in karts, most notably the PRI All-Stars Karting Classic in Orlando, where he placed 26th.

 

    Previously, in 2004, Meira missed the first two races of the season before a race-by-race deal was presented to Meira by Rahal/Letterman Racing. The driver finished eighth in the final standings for the year. In 2003, Meira ran his first start of the year for Team Menard at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway where he finished 12th as a rookie in the Indianapolis 500.

 

    Off track, Vitor is an accomplished triathlete, and is auto racing’s first special Olympics Ambassador.
