Mario Romancini will compete as a rookie this year with Conquest Racing.
Last year Romancini signed with Andersen Racing to compete in the Firestone Indy Lights series. He captured his first win in the series in his fifth start from the pole at Milwaukee, ending the season in sixth place after a victory at Homestead. In the off-season Mario participated in a number of international karting events.
2008 found the driver competing in the World Series by Renault with a best finish of ninth at Nürburgring. He also made three starts in the Brazilian Copa Nextel stock car series. In 2007, he finished second in South American F3 for Cesario F3 with two wins, two pole positions and 10 podium finishes in 14 starts. 2006 brought Romancini a fifth place finish in the Brazilian Formula Renault 2.0 Championship. Prior to that, the Brazilian competed in karting from 2002-2005 in his home country, winning the Petrobras Cup and finishing second in the Sao Paulo Cup.
Romancini speaks fluent English and Spanish in addition to Portugeuse; attended one year of law school in Brazil before moving to Europe to pursue a racing career. He enjoys playing tennis and golf, and has a dog named Tedy, and lists Aryton Senna and Michael Schumacher as his racing heroes. |
